I made it safely back home: several uneventful flights and no extra charge for surplus weight…plus low shipping fees for m kayak…lucky gal!
What a difference it is to return home to winter! Cold, grey skies and short days…but I like the seasons so there is no time to be sad…
I’ve been busy since my return with buisiness meetings, checking on my shops, answering e-mails, phoning friends and editing all of my many pics !
Back Home on Wednesday
Posted by Freya on January 4, 2008Since I managed to change my flight I return home on Wednesday, January 9th.
I just need to deal with 12hrs of jetlag…so all the promised calls have to wait some time then…and back to buisiness soon again, too!
I’m still busy here in NZ since there’s plenty of media interest! Regardless, I feel my biggest challenge once the trip is copmlete was the announced booklet…by making it public I put pressure on myself to get it donel…So first I have a heaps of office work to do — which is sure to put some of the weight I lost paddling back on. Luckily Paul promised some support!
The Final Leg – I’m done!
Posted by Freya on January 2, 2008Well, what shall I write? There’s almost too much going on! There were so many people wishing me well: in person, via e-mail, on blog comments or on the phone! I would like to thank everybody again for the moral and practical support. I’ll answer all of your most welcome e-mails shortly!here (thanks to Derrick Mayoleth for uploading the file).

Editor’s note. I received a phone call from Freya, while she was still on the water. Instead of stopping at the point shown on the map, she has instead paddled through the night and was well into her crossing with about 45 kilometers remaining to complete the final leg of her circumnavigation. That makes for a very long "day" of approximately 165km! She was feeling strong and very excited to be so close to her destination. Hopefully her next communication will be that she has completed her epic journey! -Greg
