Thanks to Hilleberg Tents for providing me the Allak 2008 model two-person tent for my New Zealand record solo circumnavigation.

Here’s why: The Allak is a free-standing roomy tent with plenty of ventilation options — ideal on an expedition around an island that featured high winds and thousands of hideous sand flies. It’s easy to put up and take down and the silicone surface makes it easy to compress for packing. In warm, dry weather, I put the inner tent up without the fly. I was fully content with the options this tent gave me!
