MSR Gear

Thanks to Michelle Vela from Cascade Designs for providing me a huge goodie bag/ box of MSR gear for my "Race around Australia" Expedition! Visiting the Cascade Design Factory was just like x-mas to me…

On all my other expeditions I was using already the famous MSR Whisperlite Internationale camp stove. It feels great to get a brandnew one, and to keep the proven good old one as a backup!

She was so nice to add an Expedition Service Kit and some fuel bottles.

I’m going to try as well the MSR PocketRocket, this might save some weight where there are gas cans available, and is a slight bit easier to operate in a tent, just in case the sandflies will be as nasty as in New Zealand…

I’m going to try different cookware, so far I’ve got the MSR 1,1 l Alpine Stowaway Pot, which is great if you have some pre-cooked noodles or couscous ready for lunch in the kayak.

And Michelle added again some useful gadgets: MSR Alpine Folding Utensils.

Not sure how often I’ll need a water purifier around Australia, but it is a good feeling to have one! Michelle gave me the MSR MIOX Purifier, which is really small as a backup.

For Hydration I will use some 2 and 4 liters MSR Dromedary Bags and MSR Dromlite Bags. Plus two MSR Hydromedary Bags.

I got some of the MSR Personal Packtowls , they feel just great and serve you best on a trip, plus an MSR Packtowl Original , with lots of little watersports pictures on it. Cute!

Michelle also gave me a very lightweight MSR Hubba Hubba HP tent, which might serve me well in the heat of the tropical areas in Northern Australia, where I have to save all space and weigh for carrying fresh water. I mght not need a full four-season tent like my favourite Hilleberg Allak in these areas. We’ll see which one I’m goint to use where.

You are wondering why I also like MRS gear?

Well, besides the last two items they just match my favourite color combination black, red and silver…- that’s what I’ve got in my bathroom, bedroom and office… :-))
